Well done to all of you who sang in Las Arenas on Thursday - I was proud to be your teacher. My parents can't wait to see you all sing this week at the Gabinete. Are you singing on the steps outside or inside?
Please remember to say 'thank you' to Mr Kevin tomorrow as he has found a better version of the OT "En Navidad" song for us.
There is a link to it on the left in our website list.
Keep practising and well done for all of today's hard work. I did notice that most of you know the lyrics to our song now. We will decide what actions etc we do next week. We need to pratise singing louder now!!
Here is a dance remix of the Spanish song for the Christmas show. Pleqase let me know if you can find a better quality video. I really like this song - we shall have to listen to it more in class! See you tomorrow...
HAPPINESS IS... ruining Perfect Peter´s party eating all the cake he wants opening all the presents eating with his hands playing tricks on Miss Battle-axe watching Rapper Zapper when he wants to a Super Soaker 5000 playing pranks on Perfect Peter being horrid to other people making Vomiting Vera vomit joking with his friends not having homework getting Moody Margaret to admit his tree-house is the best getting the soft black settee to sit on destroying his school playing with his secret club, the Purple Hands soaking Moody Margaret with the Super Soaker 5000 getting the best part in the school show getting to his room and playing all afternoon listening to rock music loudly watching his favourite TV channel smacking Peter playing tricks on everyone being horrid to everyone!
This is from "Snoopy", a programme that was very popular when I was young. Tomorrow, we are going to write our own happiness poem but thinking about it from Horrid Henry's point of view!!
HAPPINESS IS FINDING A PENCIL. PIZZA WITH SAUSAGE TELLING THE TIME. HAPPINESS IS LEARNING TO WHISTLE. TYING YOUR SHOE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.
HAPPINESS IS PLAYING THE DRUM IN YOUR OWN SCHOOL BAND. AND HAPPINESS IS WALKING HAND IN HAND. HAPPINESS IS TWO KINDS OF ICE CREAM. KNOWING A SECRET. CLIMBING A TREE. HAPPINESS IS FIVE DIFFERENT CRAYONS. CATCHING A FIREFLY. SETTING HIM FREE.
HAPPINESS IS BEING ALONE EVERY NOW AND THEN. AND HAPPINESS IS COMING HOME AGAIN. HAPPINESS IS MORNING AND EVENING, DAY TIME AND NIGHT TIME TOO. FOR HAPPINESS IS ANYONE AND ANYTHING AT ALL THAT'S LOVED BY YOU.
HAPPINESS IS HAVING A SISTER. SHARING A SANDWICH. GETTING ALONG. HAPPINESS IS SINGING TOGETHER WHEN DAY IS THROUGH, AND HAPPINESS IS THOSE WHO SING WITH YOU. HAPPINESS IS MORNING AND EVENING, DAYTIME AND NIGHTTIME TOO. FOR HAPPINESS IS ANYONE AND ANYTHING AT ALL THAT'S LOVED BY YOU.
We all hope that you come on Friday and that you get well today. Have a good day with your doggies, Duna and Scotty. Relax please. Don´t worry about metaphors, we are going to study them tomorrow. :)
As you all know, Christmas is already under way in our classroom what with our Christmas pop-up stories for art, Horrid Henry mini-movie in drama and Secret Santa presents to buy.
So...
next week I am going to put up our Christmas tree in the corner of the room and there will be lots of little activities you can do to dress it when you have finished your work (well!) in lesson time. Remember not to wrap your present yet as we'll be making our own wrapping paper as one of the activities.
We could all go out and buy things for the classroom and for the tree but as I keep saying, I love to see how creative YOU are! You are all GREAT artists and I can't wait to see YOUR display for once. Let me know if there are any particular things you would like to make or materials you may need. This is your last year in primary so let's make it really special!
We will then have a Christmas party together where we will pull our home-made crackers, eat, drink and play games. Maybe you would like to plan the day with me. Let me know!!
Also, let me know as soon as possible if you are not here in the last week so we can make sure we celebrate with you too.

Natalia, we are all so happy that you feel better. Rest tomorrow and then hopefully we shall all see you on Friday. Thank you for coming into school this afternoon to see us.
I was so PROUD of all of you today. Natalia: for being so grown-up and letting Miss Ana know as soon as possible. Everyone else: for being so mature and patient whilst Miss Lindsay and Miss Ana made sure Natalia was ok.
Let me know any songs you know (with the lyrics) that show PERSONIFICATION. Send a comment to this post please. If you are still confused, don't worry. This is what we'll be doing for three weeks!!
Like all of you, one of my favourite things when I am not at school is to listen to my favourite music. You will be surprised how much poetry you can find in song lyrics. We will be starting our poetry work next week and will be learning about similes, metaphors and personification.
Watch this video featuring some of my favourite pop groups and we will talk about it more next week. I hope you enjoy the songs!
Here are the spellings for Monday. You might even use them in your homework tonight (to improve the usage of adjectives in your flashback short story).
I think we all enjoyed Angels' birthday this year!! What a great trip it was: perfect weather, fun games and not a moment to stop! I will add some photos here when I have downloaded them. You behaved excellently, well done. See you tomorrow. Have a good rest tonight - I know I will!!
A big thank you to Natalia N's mum for pointing this out to us tonight. She pointed out that when we do our JOTTINGS we might write something that is incorrect in maths. For example I wrote:
5x5=25+3=28 Your jottings are there to help you work out the answer clearly. I write my method as one line even though it is not mathematically correct as I am only doing jottings to help me work it out. Please do not get confused. 5x5 is not the same as 25+3 5x5 is not the same as 28 either.
Thanks again to Mr Tom for this! Tomorrw, we will be revising some of the things we have studied this year. We will record in both Spanish and English how to do short division with remainders, long division and long multiplication. Hopefully that will help your parents to understand how we do our maths in class.
Thank you to the birthday girl for her great rice pudding today! Sorry, we forgot to sing "Happy birthday" - we will do so tomorrow! Enjoy your evening! Miss Sam
Please bring your magazines into school tomorrow so we can look at the style of them. We are going to make a magazine/newspaper which will be glossy and colourful, like the magazines you read. We will discuss it tomorrow. I'm very excited!
All of these people are famous Radio DJs in Britain. They all come from different parts of Britain and elsewhere. Listen how clearly they speak and think about making your voice this clear for your recording!
I have added loads of web links to the left for you to use. The only thing you will not be able to hear are adverts (I think). We will speak more tomorrow about radio shows in general. See you tomorrow!
http://www.funradiolive.com/ I have added the above website to our blog because it is a radio station only for children. It might give you some ideas for your own podcast. Some things are for younger children but there are lots of good things to listen to. Are you ready to record your jingle tomorrow?
Here are some resources that may help you this week on Primary Resources: www.primaryresources.co.uk Click on MATHS Click on Numbers and Number System Click on Fractions, decimals and percentages Click on Mixed FDP resources You can print out documents (doc) or PDFs to do at home. Stick them in your maths books if you do this. If some are too difficult, you can also go back and click on Fractions etc separately to revise. The Powerpoints are good and you may want to read them at home to revise. There are some things you could print out to help you and put up in your bedroom (if your parent/parents say it's ok only!). I will show you tomorrow in class.
Sorry Natalia! The blog will be blue this week (if the blue I have chosen is too difficult to see, I will change it to another blue. Let me know. The blog will be green next week. Well done to those people who have sent me messages so far - I would like to see you all comment from time to time so please send a comment if you haven't already. You can also ask me questions about homework or things you would like to do. Well done to Natalia R and Pablo who have been our stars of the week so far. I will put a separate post on here for each of you soon. I will also print those mini certificates for our fantastic assembly! Well done to the two Javiers for making their own blogs - they can show you what they have done on Monday. I look forward to videoing your TV reports next week that we have been practising in drama time. See you on Monday when we begin our week's reversible and irreversible changes cooking. Have a lovely weekend and remember to learn those journalism spellings!
The Press Pack website from Newsround is brilliant! I will show you how to use it in class tomorrow as long as our computer is working!! If you would like to use it at home, you will need to become a member which is FREE. It's by the BBC and is very safe but I would prefer to talk to those who want to use it before you join just to make sure you use it safely. You should not use a user name that is the same as your name and you NEVER tell anyone else your password. There are lots of fun activities on the site and if your parents give you their permission, you can send reports and even picture stories and they may be published online. If you would like me to check the rough draft of your story, I will. See you tomorrow!
Next week, we are learning to become journalists. This video is from a children's TV programme in Britain called "Newsround". We are going to be using it a lot in the next few weeks. This is a sneak preview. Listen to the language used and how it is presented.
Here are some of the photos I took today. Our display is not finished yet but you can show your parents what we have done so far... Good teamwork was shown when you were printing. Well done!
Here are some of the photos from the beginning of our Pop Art Project. Soon I will be adding photos of the fab work you have all been doing. I'm particularly impressed by the teamwork approach to the task.
Well done to all of you on Friday (and Elena G on Thursday). The assembly was fantastic and all the teachers came up and told me how great you all were. I was so proud of you all. Well done!
This shows you the style of the show "This is Your Life". I just need to check a few details from our person's life and the words will be ready. We will start practising tomorrow in our drama time (Gymnasium at 12:20). See you tomorrow! Miss S
So now you all know that I will be your teacher next year... I have started our class blog. Please feel free to post comments and let me know your thoughts before September. See you soon!
