Reponse to your messages!

Of course you can show us the video of the umbrella bird and I'm glad you all had a great time today.

Thank you for all my birthday wishes the other day and for cheering me up when I was ill. I hope you all have a lovely few days off and get some rest. I think you all need a bit of a break and so that's why I haven't given you any homework to do. The rest of the term is going to be a bit hectic with the show so please enjoy the next few days. Get well soon to those of you who are sick.
See you on Wednesday!

Science spellings

Thank you Olivia for your comments.
I have been thinking and I agree that your spellings are rather tricky this week so you can all have an extra week to learn them. The spellings will be useful for this week and next week.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well Laura - we all hope to see you back soon. We are hoping that Javier P and Marta S will be back tomorrow too.

Here are some cool videos I found about some animals. I'm sure they will cheer you up if you are feeling ill Laura!

See you soon!

Super swimmers!

I forgot to put this on the other day to say well done to both Nacho and Noelia for representing our school so well in the swimming gala. They both came back to class with medals draped around their necks - super effort!
Please keep the class updated on your swimming success out of school too.

Henri Rousseau

Well, you keep asking me when you are going to use your watercolour pencils and the answer is...NOW! We will be studying all about the artist Henri Rousseau this term and we will be learning how to colour-mix watercolour paints and how to use our watercolour pencils. You can find all about Rousseau by clicking here.
Before we go to Palmitos Park this week I will give you the name of an animal/plant to research. You will be painting that animal/plant in the style of Rousseau for a display outside our classroom. It will look like an advertising image for Palmitos Park. We will add information onto it to explain the adaptations of each animal/plant.
Don't worry, we will be animating but not this week. Our ICT time for the rest of the term will be used to animate as well as some playtimes.
Here are some Rousseau paintings so you can see what his artisitic style is like...
See you tomorrow!

Other videos

Using chroma key backgrounds

Today we attempted to use a chroma key background. If you were working with Miss Claire's class, this means we used a one colour background so that we could add our own background afterwards. We found out that it can be rather tricky (difficult) to do. I had another go at home with a blue background so I couldn't use blue clay.
When we try it again next week we need to put the background quite far away from our characters to stop as much shadow as possible. We also need to use more lighting.
Here are some videos to show you. If you need to use blue in a scene you can use a green screen. Blue and green screens work best. If you need to have blue and green in the same scene then use your own set. Well done for your work today and lovely singing in assembly. Enjoy your weekend!

Brilliant buddy letters!

Miss Claire and 1C were really impressed with their letters today - well done to you all.

Have a look at their weaving display next time you go past first grade as they have given you a special mention.

What fine examples you are to the rest of the school!

Our Friday creation

I was very impressed with all your problem solving and you worked really well together.

Miss Claire was also very impressed with her helpers and would like a group to work with her next week. Don't worry, you will be able to work with me at another time to perfect your stop-motion skills!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend,

Miss Sam

Here are our very first animations!

Well done to all of you who had a go today - what fab work!
Tomorrow, the rest of you will film your first ´short´.
Well done also to Paula and her sister for their super film (I think you´ll have to teach me how to do it!).

Good to hear you´re bored MarĂa - that means you will be back to school soon to make movies with us!

Remember, if you want to make these at home it is very easy to do so with a webcam. If you want to use a video camera, it must have a WEBCAM FUNCTION.

See you tomorrow for more filming...

Well done!

Well done to Carla, Javier P and Olivia for having a go at doing stop animation.
They can be our experts tomorrow!!
To find free safe software, type "I can animate" into google and download i.
Check with your parents first please as you will need to enter an e-mail address to send confirmation to.
I'm really excited! I hope you are too.
A demain,

Miss Sam

Horrid Henry - Live and Horrid

Another short claymation

Last one for now - just to get you thinking!

Good for set ideas

This is much longer than our claymations will be but the first three minutes will give you an idea of what the set could look like. Remember, it is up to you!

Another dino claymation

You can add sound to your creations too but let´s do the animating first!!

How to make your own Morph

Look at how much plasticine you need for each character in your story. I suggest you make your Astrosaurs as simple as possible and from one colour.

Astrosaurs' website

Have a look at the Astrosaurs' website!

Get ready for...The Astrosaurs!

This week we are going to be writing our own Astrosaurs adventure/science fiction book.

We will also be designing our front cover to an Astrosaurs' book in art lesson and our main character in ICT time, as well as having a go at some stop-motion animation.

Have a look at these front covers. Which do you prefer?
